This advanced specialist training is designed for qualified counsellors who want to expand their work into this vital area. With 60 hours of in-depth, face-to-face training, the course explores developmental theory, ethical complexities, and creative approaches tailored to younger clients.

Modules include:

  • Applying Theory to Practice: Explore developmental and counselling theories relevant to CYP work

  • Developing Reflective Practice: Enhance your awareness of the unique relational needs of younger clients

  • Ethics and Risk: Navigate safeguarding and ethical decision-making

  • Working Creatively: Learn how to integrate creative methods into your sessions

  • Loss and Attachment: Understand the impact of early relationships and environments

  • Research Proposal: Design a research-informed proposal on a CYP area of interest

 

This training is recognised by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) as meeting the standards for Advanced Specialist status.

Minimum entry: Qualified counsellor.
Minimum cohort: 4 participants.

Advanced Practitioner: Working with Children and Young People has been given Advanced Specialist training recognition by the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). This course alone is not in and of itself a route to the Society's Accredited Register nor does it guarantee a higher level entry of registrant grade on application to the Society
