Safeguarding responsibilities continue to evolve, with changes to legislation, professional body requirements and expectations around ethical decision-making, accountability and record keeping.
This practical and engaging CPD workshop explores what these developments mean for counsellors and how they impact everyday therapeutic practice.
During the workshop, we will explore:

Legislative updates: Recent changes to safeguarding legislation and their implications for counselling practice.

Professional body requirements: Updates from the Professional Conduct Procedure Board (PCPB) and BACP, including expectations around safeguarding and ethical practice.

Legal responsibilities: Understanding the legal duties and professional responsibilities relevant to safeguarding.

Record keeping: Requirements for documenting safeguarding concerns, decisions, actions and the rationale behind them.

Ethical decision-making: Exploring collaborative, accountable and defensible safeguarding decisions.

Applying learning to practice: Working through a case study to consider safeguarding responsibilities, ethical dilemmas, decision-making and appropriate recording.
